Rita Mosiman Presents … Renewal

Icicle

RENEWAL

The icicle, through which we almost see, is a stunning treat along the trail at winter time.  Its beauty amidst mostly barren trees will pass, just as the old year, too, is passing.  In its place, will be other artistic surprises to intrigue our eyes and renew our souls as the New Year moves on.  Each path taken, each season, each year has its own rewards.  Old and new joys, alike, await us to embrace.  It’s time to reflect and to look forward. Rita Mosiman Presents … Hint of Color

A hint of color

A HINT OF COLOR

Life peeks through the layer of snow, life that is desperately dependent upon getting enough water in the high desert.  As it drinks its water, it also displays its art with a hint of color and gentle patterns.

The blustery winds of the storm have settled down, and my eyes enjoy gazing upon this soft plant in the still air. I think of human beings trying to meet their needs for survival.  I think of the emotional storms in life that hopefully arrive at quiet resolution.  I think about the interrelationship of all living things.  I think about the hopes of peace throughout the world.

A New Look

I awoke to the first good snow fall and excitedly grabbed my camera and raced outside.  I knew the familiar would be transformed, and I wasn’t disappointed!  As I walked through the quiet, these cacti appeared, greatly contrasting with the soft snow.  They hadn’t caught my attention much before, as they blended into their surroundings, but now their color and form were sharply defined.  Wow!  I felt fortunate to see them before the sun changed the scene.  Just as we take for granted our usual haunts, nature gifts us her surprises.   Taking a second look at the familiar in our lives is often worthwhile! Rita Mosiman Presents … Walls

WALLS

The rock wall, lovingly formed, attracts my eyes with its embellishment of snow.  I think of how skilled the hands were that created it.  I wonder what kind of soul directed those hands. Suddenly my mind shifts to walls, in general.  There are so many types.  Some walls are retaining.  Some divide property—and people. Sometimes it’s good when a wall comes down. Some walls are emotional, seeming to protect us from hurt. Some are made to be solely beautiful. Maybe it’s good for us to notice what kind of walls we’ve created in our lives. Continue reading

Rita Mosiman Presents… Over the City

OVER THE CITY

The skies were flooded with intense color as people returned home from a work filled day.  Suddenly smiles spread on weary faces, heavy moods were lifted as many gave thanks for the artistic treat spread over the city.  Now, what was it that had bowed our heads during the day?  Was it really as important as we had made it out to be?  Changing our perspective is among nature’s many gifts.

Rita Mosiman Presents … Reflections

REFLECTIONS

Mirrored trees in the water remind us to take a moment to reflect.  Nature’s beauty beckons us to enjoy her gifts. Aren’t we all too hurried?  Don’t we need a moment to pause?   The day’s busyness might just float away.  A solution to a deep problem may seep into our beings.  Our heart rates may return to normal.  Certainly, we have nothing to lose but a little time.  Yes, time is precious, but what better way to spend some of it?  Do you have a favorite place in nature that soothes your soul?

SCULPTURES

Fall colors are approaching.  I can’t wait to see the gold of the cottonwood leaves against New Mexico’s azure skies!  Equally beautiful are the forms of the tree’s branches that become more pronounced as the leaves turn gold.  Each tree offers a unique sculpture, which, when seen with the colors of leaves and sky, creates a painting of incredible design and blend of hues.

Nature’s gifts are stupendous.  I hope man remembers to gift in return by preserving and respecting nature and letting the warmth its gifts bring us spill onto those whose paths cross ours.
