Stalker by Clarissa Wild

Clarissa-iconWhat kind of book is Stalker?

Stalker is a Dark Romantic Suspense, filled with hate, lies, lust, sex, and much, much more. ūüėČ It‚Äôs not for the faint-hearted, but I promise you, if you sit through it, it will be worth it!

Where do you get your ideas?

I get my ideas from movies, books, and sometimes even the stories people tell me. I love drawing inspiration from things I’ve seen or witnessed in the past. Sometimes, ideas can also just spring into my mind out of nowhere, it’s like they just appear. It’s amazing. Once I have an idea, it still takes month to take the form of a book, though.

Usually it begins with a ‚Äėwhat if‚Äô question, a few characters, bits and pieces of action or things that happen ‚Ķ and the before I know it, there‚Äôs a complete story on my desk!

What’s the hardest part of the writing process?

The hardest part would be the creation of the storyline. The idea always begins with flashes, little scenes, but for a book I have to string those scenes together to form a coherent story. Sometimes, I have to shift around the scenes, or change course in the middle, but in the end it always turns out to be perfect! ūüôā

What do you always need to have with you when you write?

I always need to have my bottle of water with me when I write, as well as some peace & quite, and some good music. ūüėČ I also love to have a cup of hot tea next to me, but it‚Äôs not a requirement to write an awesome book!

If your book was going to be made into a movie, who play the lead roles?

For Stalker, I would say Michael Malarkey as Phoenix (With some added piercings and tattoos), and Candice Accola as Vanessa. As actors, those two match the best, but I didn’t style my characters after actors. My real role models are Stephen James & Mikkel Jensen for Phoenix, and Marina, from Marina And The Diamonds (the singer) for Vanessa.

What books can we expect from you in the future?

My next book will most likely be Twenty-One (21), and it has someone from Stalker in the leading role. I won‚Äôt tell you who, but you can find out pretty easily when you read the book ūüėČ It‚Äôs going to be super exciting, you can check it out here:

Any final words for fans?

Thank you so much for reading my books, and make sure to pick up your copy of Stalker to get the complete story of Vanessa & Phoenix! It‚Äôs going to be one heck of a ride! ūüôā

Conversing with Sandra Brown

I have been running this blog for the last two years and I have had many wonderful authors come and chat with me. Today I am truly humbled to welcome Sandra Brown, author of over 60, you read it right 60 New York Times Bestsellers! I have been a fan of Ms Brown for as long as I could remember, so naturally I jumped at the chance to be a part of her blog tour.

Here’s my interview:

Photo Sandra BrownWhat made you switch from writing thrillers to writing a heartwarming story like Rainwater?

The characters of Ella and Rainwater wouldn’t leave me alone!  They kept coming around every few months, insisting that I tell their story.  In between contract books, I began writing, and before I knew it, I had a first draft.  I put it away, wrote another thriller, took it up again.  I worked on it that way for about a year and half before I sent it to my agent, who had no idea I’d been writing it.  She liked it and sent it to my editor.  I’m pleased it was received so well.  Their story deserved to be told.

When you started writing did you ever think you would make a full time living off of it?

That‚Äôs a yes and no question.¬† From day one, yes, I wrote with the intention of being published.¬† I knew that if I approached it as a hobby, something to dabble in, I‚Äôd never make it.¬† So I treated the writing like a job, ‚Äúgoing to work‚ÄĚ every day, although it was only a commute to the spare bedroom where I‚Äôd set up a typewriter on a card table!¬† Did I think I‚Äôd ever write over 75 books, be a bestseller, be published worldwide?¬† No.¬† But I‚Äôm so grateful to have been afforded the opportunity to do what I love doing and making a living at it.

The publishing industry has changed a lot since you started your career. What are your thoughts on the changes and how have they affected you?

I think we in the industry are still on the learning curve of the changes and how they affect us!  Publishing is evolving.  What I love about the introduction of electronic books is that it has enabled me to grow my audience. Readers on every spot of the globe have access to my books.  The disadvantage to it is that readers on every spot of the globe also have access to me! Constantly feeding social media requires a lot of time. It’s a juggling act to allocate time to it, without sacrificing time that should be spent writing.  Writing a good book is the best thing I can do for my reader.

What was your biggest challenge when you first started writing?

Not so much the writing itself (because I had dozens of stories basically outlined in my head and couldn‚Äôt wait to put them on paper) but combining my new ‚Äúhabit‚ÄĚ with daily life.¬† Fortunately, I had a good husband, who knew how badly I wanted to write, and was willing to help with kids and all the craziness that family life entails. We ate carryout a LOT!

What is your biggest challenge now?

What it’s always been: Writing a story that people want to read. I still approach each day with a healthy dose of FEAR. Is this character compelling?  Will this plot excite and engage the reader?  This self-doubt is actually beneficial. Complacency would be deadly. Continue reading

Excerpt (STEAMY)

Stom cleared his throat and backed her further under the shower then began soaping her.

Amazing how he managed, even getting her to turn around so he could wash her hair and watching the water flow in rippling and twisting currents down her back. Willow’s muscles were heaven under his hands. Smoothing away the residues of soot on her pleased him immensely. It hit some spot inside him that made him know, yes, he was doing good. Her soft noises of pleasure made him have to stop once or twice to reassemble his brain, but he kept going. Clean her. Get her right.

Make her a woman again and not some soot-covered succubus.

The word in his mind made his cock twitch and his fingers dug into her shoulders.
‚ÄúOw!‚ÄĚ Willow flinched and spun around, almost slipping on the wet stone.

Her full breasts jiggled, swayed. The pink-brown centers drew him. They were all puckered up from the play of water over them, or perhaps from his rushed soaping. The two little taut buds had been under his palms, bubbles of soap catching on them…

‚ÄúOh,‚ÄĚ she murmured, looking down at where his pants were pushed out by his erection.

When she didn’t raise her eyes and the very tip of her tongue emerged from her lips to curl moistly against them, he groaned.

This wasn‚Äôt why he‚Äôd kept her, remember? He needed to sort out her life, somehow. Stop her getting killed. Sex was just, was not… He inhaled a shuddery breath.

She twisted her mouth and took a partial step toward him, enough that she nudged his pants and, more importantly, pushed into the tip of his cock with her stomach. Her mischievous smile as she rolled her hips side to side, pushing at him some more, made him growl.
